From time to time, I hear a simple and honest assumption: that the Legacy Foundation exists primarily to ask for donations.
It’s an understandable perception. Philanthropy is a visible part of what we do, and it plays a meaningful role in shaping life at Shell Point. But it is only one part of a much broader commitment to serving this community.
At its core, the Legacy Foundation exists to support you.
We have the privilege of walking alongside residents and their families through a season of life that is often rich with meaning — but can also bring complexity. Decisions become more layered. Responsibilities can feel heavier. And at times, the path forward isn’t always clear.
Our role is to bring clarity where there is uncertainty, to simplify what feels complicated, and to offer steady, trusted guidance along the way. This work is carried out each day by a team deeply committed to serving residents with care, integrity, and compassion.
For some, that support begins with very practical needs.
It may look like helping organize financial documents, ensuring bills are paid accurately and on time, or putting safeguards in place to protect against fraud and scams. These are quiet services — often happening behind the scenes — but they provide something invaluable: confidence that the details of daily life are being handled with care and precision.
For others, the need is more about preparation.
We help residents organize their affairs, review estate and insurance plans, and prepare important documents like advance directives — ensuring that wishes are clearly documented and thoughtfully arranged. We also walk alongside families and personal representatives, helping them navigate responsibilities during times that can feel overwhelming.
And sometimes, the most meaningful support we offer isn’t about documents or decisions at all.
It’s about presence.
It’s being available during times of transition, illness, or loss — offering guidance, reassurance, and a steady hand when it’s needed most. These are moments when community matters in a deeper way, and it is an honor for our team to be part of that support system.
Beyond individual services, we also create opportunities for residents to stay informed, engaged, and inspired. Through educational programs and workshops, we bring trusted experts into the community to share insights on health, financial planning, and other topics that help residents make thoughtful, confident decisions.
